Background
The Event
CSE has been running Internal Auditing courses for many years tackling the specific issues associated with implementing successful internal audit programmes in Software Companies.

This is an expanded course allowing more practice of the key techniques in a controlled environment. The updated course also ensures that your Internal Audits help with ongoing improvement initatives and are a mechanism for the continuous improvement of the organisation.

Purpose and role of audits

Internal audits provide management with an independent assessment of any defined process or activity to ascertain how effective (or not) it is.

The course is of benefit to software companies with:

  • ISO 9001, ISO 9002 or TickIT certification who must carry out internal audits to comply with the standard (including the new version of the standard)
  • quality systems that are not formally certified but who need to know if their system is effective
  • a defined process e.g. Software Life Cycle, which is in use and has relevant documents, processes and/or procedures associated with it

If you fall into any of the above categories you will want to maintain and improve your key processes so that your ongoing activities can be directed to meet your changing circumstances. Internal Audits are a very effective way of doing this by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of your system.

This 2-day session will explain the different types of auditing and why and when they are used. We show you how to establish an internal audit programme in your own company. We investigate and discuss the skills required to act as an auditor, and address problems that may be met, and ways to get round them. Finally we look at the audit planning and execution required to make the most of your internal audit programme.

To bring the course together participants are expected to work on a series of exercises and a Case Study which will give them practice
using the techniques before trying to do it back at the ranch.

On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the various types of audit and their uses to the organisation.
  • Establish an internal audit programme for your own company.
  • Understand the skills of an auditor.
  • Understand potential problems and how to resolve them.
  • Plan and execute their first internal audit immediately after the course.
  • Review the success of the audit and plan for future audit success.

How the company will benefit

  • It will help you to identify and prioritise process improvement initiatives in the organisation
  • Enables you to target improvements in the most cost effective area/s
  • Properly trained internal auditors ensure that effort is not being wasted within the organisation by following out of date practices
Who should attend?

This course is aimed at Project Leaders, Quality Managers, Quality Team Members and any personnel wishing to introduce or participate in internal auditing in their Organisations.
